The First Minister has commissioned the PPIW to provide analytical support to the Welsh Government’s European Advisory Group (EAG).
The EAG, which is chaired by the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government, is providing advice on the challenges and potential opportunities Wales faces arising from the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union. It will consider issues such as the single market; migration; social, environmental and economic protections; and legislative, financial and constitutional implications. It will also consider how Wales can best secure a continued positive relationship with the rest of Europe. For further details see: http://gov.wales/about/cabinet/cabinetstatements/2016-new/euadvisory/?lang=en.
The first two pieces of work conducted by the PPIW for the EAG have focused on migration to and from Wales and the potential for a ‘Brexit premium’. These and other analyses for the EAG will complement analysis conducted by Welsh Government officials and others.
